Parkside is inspired by the picnics we went on as kids. My mom would pack Creamette salad, fruit salad, along with pretzels and cherries or watermelon and the delicious ham and swiss sandwiches with mustard, baked on top of French bread. We would walk to the neighborhood liquor store for orange or strawberry pop, then carry everything to the park for the afternoon. We would play softball in the lot across the street and sometimes volleyball. It was simple, familiar, and exactly what summer was supposed to feel like.
